Career Connected Learning

The most important thing that I learned is that art helps bring communities together.

- Delayla, MURAL ARTS SUMMER PROGRAM PARTICIPANT

The Mural Arts Career Connected Learning (C2L-PHL) program provides paid career exploration to Philadelphia-based students aged 14-21 in partnership with JEVS Human Services. This six-week summer intensive program introduces youth participants to hands-on work readiness experiences in what it takes to be a working artist. Through project-based learning, employing drawing, painting, photography, mixed media, and mural making, youth participants learn to develop their own creative portfolio while working with locally and nationally known artists. No formal art experience is necessary, however, applications from current and former Mural Arts students are prioritized.

Summer Career Connected Learning (C2L-PHL) experiences with Mural Arts will include safe in-person participation at worksites 20 hours a week, July 8 – August 16, 2024. Program participants will be placed at worksites in a 4-hour AM or PM shift. Participants’ work schedules will depend upon their worksite placement. Worksites will be in five locations across Center City, South, and Northeast Philadelphia.

Please note: Applicants will need to enter the ZIP code of a Mural Arts worksite in order to find them in the application program locator. Mural Arts sites and ZIPs are:

1729 Mount Vernon Street, 19130
Freire Charter School, 19103
Bok Building, 19148
417 N 8th Street, 19123
