This Week @ Mural Arts

by: Carly Rapaport-Stein

The chance to find all 57 donkeys. A 14 block installation running down Broad Street from City Hall to Washington Avenue. An enormous paint day. There are so many fabulous Mural Arts happenings around town this week, and we’re happy to add two more wonderful projects to that list:

#voteforthegoodlife

Head to the main branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia to experience Meg Saligman’s latest artistic undertaking, Common Ground. The project, which traveled to the Republican National Convention last week, and this week, is making its home in Philadelphia during the Democratic National Convention, includes a dialogue den and an 18-foot art installation designed to encourage respectful, genial conversations, uncovering “the good life” by finding our common ground.

Meg chats about the project below:

We’re delighted to be a part of the installation of CityKids Speak on Liberty. Legendary artist Keith Haring, in conjunction with The CityKids Foundation, painted this 30′ by 90′ banner with 1,000 children over a 3-day period in 1986. The banner has been exhibited in New York City, Paris, Milan, and New Orleans, and we’re beyond thrilled to have it here in Philadelphia. Special shout out to our partners at Arts + Crafts Holdings for working so hard to bring the mural to Philadelphia!
