Please join us and our partners at the Streets Department to launch two new Trash Academy projects by Philadelphia youth, in collaboration with artists and activists! Trash Trouble is a new video series, based on youth research and artwork, exploring how recycling and landfills function, and how they affect our experience of the city. We’ll watch these short films together, and then unveil the new Dirty Danger designs outside. These designs wrap the City’s Big Belly solar trash compactors, producing an interactive and educational experience. The imagery features mystical animals camouflaged in vibrant, abstracted natural environments. Lurking in the background, photo-realistic soda bottles, snack bags, and other trash items encourage us to think about where our litter may end up if not properly disposed of.
