Paintings for Play and Puppetry with Scott Schultheis

  • location ZOOM
  • cost

    Free

This workshop will focus on using painting materials and techniques to create finger puppets. Finger puppetry is a fun, therapeutic form of self expression, which connects traditional art practices with contemporary thinking. Participants’ interests, moods, and identities will guide their subject matter for their painting puppets.

Scott will provide individual and group support as participants engage in this experimental activity and deal with technical questions that come up about their painting process. Some subject matter options meant to inspire will be provided, and emphasis will be on painting in whatever kind of visual style works for you. The goal is to experience how accessible and fun it is to create finger puppets out of painting.

Open to all levels and ages. More experienced artists may find that the ideas in this workshop help open up their practice. Folks will have the option to participate in a followup art video project organized by Scott, using the results from this workshop! Info to follow.
