Mural Dedication: Wall of Respect

The Institute of Contemporary Art and the Art Education Department of the Mural Arts invite you to the dedication of Willis Humphrey’s modern-day “Wall of Respect.”

Drawing inspiration from Chicago’s late 1960s African American civil rights movement and vibrant arts and jazz scene, students from the Olney Charter School had a chance to work in collaboration with the Mural Arts while learning how to define their own creative voices. The final design features luminaries Malcolm X, Janelle Monae, Michelle and Barack Obama, Cornbread, Kevin Hart, Alicia Keys, and Simone Biles.

Hear about the student’s journey to artistic self-discovery and learn the process behind student-designed murals, all while enjoying light refreshments and the company of your friends and neighbors.
