Passage :: Migration and Free Speech at Marconi Plaza

When the sun goes down, we’ll be shining a light on Monument Lab projects at Marconi Plaza. Led by Ricardo Rivera, experiential art shop Klip Collective will unveil Passage :: Migration, their one-night-only immersive installation that pays homage to immigrant families of South Philadelphia, past and present. Made out of light, sound, fabric, and a multitude of names, the installation reflects a welcoming and inclusive experience.

We’ll also be highlighting Free Speech, a project from artist Shira Walinsky and Southeast by Southeast that is a monument in the form of a fully-functioning news kiosk, featuring the stories of immigrant and refugee artists. Stop by for henna artist Noor Azizah, and hear a poem from high school student Bwe Ku. Enjoy performances from Indonesian dance troupe Modero, plus Karen Youth Dance Troupe and Bhutanese/Nepali dance troupes! Performances from Modero Dance Troupe, Karen Youth Dance Troupe and Bhutanese/ Nepali dance troupe!

Come hungry to enjoy food and treats from our friends from Say Cheese Philadelphia, Chewys Philly Food Truck, and Curbside Creamery!
