Finally Friday

In partnership with Grant Blvd and Radio Kismet, Mural Arts’ Restorative Justice team will host its second Finally Friday event featuring artist Suave. Luis “Suave” Gonzalez is the first artist to be highlighted in this exhibition and talk series, which will focus on the work of formerly incarcerated artists. Suave helped grow the restorative justice work of Mural Arts while incarcerated at SCI Graterford. He continued his restorative justice practice as a returning citizen, and currently works with formerly incarcerated students at the Community College of Philadelphia in the program “I Am More”. In addition to exhibiting his works, Suave will be in discussion with Dr. Kimberly McGlonn, owner of Grant Blvd and Black Ivy Thrift, and the mind behind her sewist program for formerly incarcerated women. The two creatives will discuss their work in the justice- impacted community, moderated by Mural Arts’ Dominique Smack. Works by Suave will be available for purchase.
