Eco Mural 15 Wild Medicine: Mugwort, Mullein, & Mallow

Please join us to celebrate the latest Eco Mural by Kala Hagopian – Wild Medicine: Mugwort, Mullein, and Mallow. At the event, you’ll learn more about the project, receive free wildlife journals/coloring books, and hear directly from participants, funders, and herbalists about the community benefits of our local ecology!

The Wild Medicine: Mugwort, Mullein, and Mallow Eco Mural is #15 of the eco mural series and centers on local flora that provides medicinal benefits and sustenance. We are fortunate enough in Philadelphia to have a great variety of edible and medicinal plants and fungi. In addition, our neighborhoods provide a landscape for foraging natural treasures like the many fruit trees, nuts and berries, and wild plants – many mistaken as “useless weeds.”

During the event, local Herbalist Melaney Gilchrist will discuss the medicinal uses and benefits of two local plants – Peppermint and Mullein. Gilchrist will highlight their internal uses, from refreshing tea to herbal medicine. Audiences will learn about how these plants can be used as safe and natural solutions for everyday issues. This mural is dedicated to the memory of Flossie Reddick.
