Conversation with eL Seed and Conrad Benner

Hear Philadelphia street art thinker Conrad Benner in conversation with artist eL Seed: on social justice activism through the arts, community engagement, his development as an artist, and many other topics. Benner will be flanked by Jane Golden, Executive Director of Mural Arts, and Hazami Sayed, Executive Director of Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture.

This event is part of a collaboration between our Art Education program and Al-Bustan, a West Philadelphia-based nonprofit committed to presenting and teaching Arab culture through language and the arts. Building on Al-Bustan’s (DIS)PLACED project, French/Tunisian artist eL Seed has been at work on a mural exploring themes of home, identity, and displacement at the intersection of Market and Preston Streets.

Incorporating elements of graffiti and Arabic calligraphy, eL Seed is known for his unique style. His art appears on the walls of many cities, from Paris, London, and New York to Doha, Jeddah, and Melbourne, in addition to his home country Tunisia.
