Students Learn the Importance of Being Kind to Animals

by: Anonymous

Philadelphia Phillies All-Star second baseman Chase Utley and his renowned philanthropist wife Jennifer were greeted by dozens of adoring young fans at the Anna B. Pratt Elementary School for the Mural Arts and The Utley Foundation’s school-wide paint day.

The Be Kind to Animals mural centers on the theme of animal cruelty, a reoccurring problem in the school’s North Philadelphia neighborhood. During a special assembly, the Utleys spoke about the importance of treating animals with care while a representative from the Pennsylvania SPCA showed a short video that demonstrated how children should interact with animals.

The Utleys joined students, artists Willis Humphrey and Gabe Tiberino, and Jane Golden in the gymnasium to paint panels of parachute cloth that will become part of the new mural at 22nd and Dauphin Streets.

This project is sponsored by: Utley All Star Foundation and City of Philadelphia. The mural dedication takes place on Tuesday, June 7. Stay tuned tomuralarts.org/calendar for more details.
