A Mural Arts January in Pictures

by: Carly Rapaport-Stein

Winter weather never keeps us inside for too long! Here’s a look at some of the projects and events that brightened our January calendar.

Philadelphia iconography and inside references abound in Steve Powers’ latest work, Philadelphia.

Kids. Paint. Basketball. It was all the right ingredients for a fun, high-energy mural announcement and contest kickoff.

Candy Chang’s new project, The Big I-Ching, drew a great crowd for its first paint day. You can join us on February 23 and February 24 if you’d like to help too!

A gray, snowy day perked up with a sunny mural addition over a bridge near the Lingelbach School.

This post-blizzard photo comes courtesy of Mural Arts fan @emaleighsays. Michelle Oosterbaan’s colorful mural, called Kalpavriksha: The Tree of Life, can be found in Germantown, at the intersection of Rockland Street and Greene Street.
