Goldman Properties Collaboration

A series of work by the leading names in street art.

About this Series of Projects

Along 13th Street in Center City Philadelphia, a gallery of murals done by international street artists adorn the walls above the sidewalk. In partnership with Goldman Properties, creators of Wynwood Walls in Miami, Mural Arts has brought high profile contemporary street artists to Philadelphia to create new projects and present their work to students over the past few years.

In the wake of the street art boom of the 2000s, Mural Arts has been making a conscious effort to be a part of the conversation through funding these projects and giving the artists that come to town the experience of working and collaborating with local youth, an opportunity they might not receive elsewhere. Students working on these projects learn artists’ techniques and career tracks, and are exposed to new forms of contemporary mural-making.

How & Nosm

How and Nosm (Raoul and Davide Perre) are identical twin brothers known for their large scale graffiti based murals that adorn city walls around the world. The red, black, and white-based imagery is instantly recognizable and commands attention through the impressive size and the intricate detail. Initially the color palette was limited for practicality but instead has become a distinct calling card and formal choice that has allowed these artists to push spray paint to a new level.

Kenny Scharf

Scharf's ambition as a professional artist is to maintain the course that he set 30 years ago by establishing his work in the fields of painting, sculpture, and performance. One very important and guiding principle to Scharf's work is to reach out beyond the elitist boundaries of fine art and connect to popular culture through art.

VHILS aka Alexandre Farto is the tag name of Portuguese graffiti/street artist Alexandre Farto (1987—) He gained prominence when his work of a face carved into a wall appeared alongside a picture by street artist Banksy at the Cans Festival in London in 2008.
