Panel Discussion: The Art of the Protest

In partnership with the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, Mural Arts Philadelphia presents The Art of the Protest — a series of panels and workshops encouraging people to make powerful and creative statements that ignite social change through support of local, national, and global causes. This event series challenges artists and non-artists alike to explore how artistic expression can activate a movement.

Join us for a panel and discussion featuring artists and advocates who have been active participants in the current political climate. Artists OlekMichelle Angela Ortiz, Councilwoman Helen Gym and Liza Goodell from Spiral Q will share their thoughts and experiences on how art plays a role in protest. Panel will be moderated by Drexel professor Julie Hawkins and the event will be co-hosted by Conrad Benner of Streets Dept and Young Involved Philadelphia.

Cash bar on site. Seating in the Hamilton Garden is limited to 150 so be sure to secure your tickets in advance.
