Laura Deutch is an artist and educator based in Philadelphia. She is deeply committed to using media and participatory art to build community and foster social change. By utilizing experimental forms and place-based projects, she creates opportunities for people to connect with one another, their environments, and their stories. Her work includes building immersive spaces, curating events, and organizing pop-up public interventions. She sees these projects as opportunities to spark new ideas and alternatives for more just ways of living and being in community. Her work has been showcased on television, at festivals and in galleries throughout the country.

As the Education Director at PhillyCAM she supports members with skill building and tools for making their own media and works closely with nonprofits and city partners to produce media that amplifies their goals. She is an active member and serves on the board of Termite TV, and holds an MFA in Film and Media Arts from Temple University. Her work can be viewed at www.crackingopen.org.
