Nadia Botello is a sound artist and experimental composer. Her body of work has explored physical listening experiences, sound and water, modular synthesis, site and space, trauma, the voice, embodied geopolitics, and more. She has composed and designed for dance, film, experimental opera,
iPhones, pinball, plants, bodies, pools, watersheds, resonant spaces, museums, and large-scale interactive installations. Her full-length debut, Saint Shë, was featured and archived by MoMA P.S.1’s Clocktower. She’s most recently performed at James Turrell’s Skyspace “Gathered Leading,” the Icebox Project Space at Crane Arts, and Union Pool. Botello has taught preschoolers through PhD candidates about the science of sound, how to build electronic instruments, the history of women in electronic music, the politics of listening and sound technologies, disruptive sound production/composition practices, and improvisation. She is currently an MFA candidate in Music/Sound at Bard.
