Conversations with Candy: Candy Chang and SWOON on Art and Trauma

Moderated by Jane Golden
FREE to the public

At Mural Arts, we believe that art can be a useful tool for healing and empowerment, and can help us sort through the difficult emotions and experiences associated with traumatic moments or events.

Join two influential artists, Candy Chang (creator of the Before I Die participatory public art project and TED Senior Fellow) and Caledonia Curry, a.k.a. SWOON (visual artist, printmaker, and founder of the Heliotrope Foundation) for a discussion on the power of art to confront and work through personal trauma. This conversation will be moderated by Jane Golden, executive director of Mural Arts Philadelphia.

Light refreshments will be provided.

This free event is part of a series of public programs related to Candy Chang’s new mural project, The Atlas of Tomorrow, produced with Mural Arts Philadelphia’s Porch Light department. Porch Light is funded by the City of Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services, and The Atlas of Tomorrow is made possible with additional support from the Hummingbird Foundation.
