Art of Activism: Monumental Change

Register

Monuments are how we remember our history, for better or worse. With the surge of uprisings against police brutality and the national reckoning with America’s history of white supremacy, many monuments in our communities are being taken or torn down. How does the decision to erect or remove a monument impact a community. Join Dr. Christina Castro of the Three Sisters Collective, artist Eva Wǒ, and Dr. Lisa Maya Knauer, PhD. from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, as they discuss re-evaluating existing monuments and new memorials with moderator Ginger Rudolph.

Presented by The Mural Arts Institute and Power Map.

The Mural Arts Institute is supported by The JPB Foundation, The Kresge Foundation, Stavros Niarchos Foundation, and The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
