Alvin Tull is a versatile artist who was born and raised in North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated from the Art Institute of Atlanta in December of 2015 and shortly after traveled to France to study with internationally-renowned muralist, Josh Sarantitis. Al first got involved with Mural Arts Philadelphia at an early age after being involved with gangs as a child. Over the years, Al has helped design several murals around the city. He has led projects with youth inmates and taught art-based workshops at the Porch Light Program’s Kensington Storefront. Tull says that community art is what saved him, it is what helped him work through his own addiction and is what continues to help him through his recovery today.
