Whitman at 200: Songs of Myself Animation

This is a one time only projection at the Whitman Library. This animation will focus on stanzas from Walt Whitman’s poem “Song of Myself”. The short video will include voices from immigrant youth from Furness High School exploring the concept of multitudes and diversity through the use of language. Hand drawn images, fonts, and other visuals will be collaged together in the video by artist, Shira Walinsky and poet, Ujjwala Maharjan.

The program will include a poetry reading by students from Furness High School of their own poetry.
