Virtual Artmaking, presented by the Mural Arts Advisory Council

Join Mural Arts’ Advisory Council, a group of young professional advocates, for an evening of family-friendly virtual artmaking on Thursday, April 29 from 7-8pm! Using items you already have at home–all you’ll need is a pen or pencil and paper, plus some coloring implements if you’d like–Teaching Artist and muralist Brad Carney will guide participants through a series of blind contour drawings, leading to creative (and humorous) results that adults and children alike are sure to enjoy.

Along the way you’ll hear from Porch Light Program Manager Emily Crane about the vital links between artmaking and wellness that define her work with participants in our Color Me Back same-day work and pay program. This unique initiative offers individuals facing economic and housing insecurity the chance to work on creative artistic projects in exchange for wages, while granting access to a variety of social services. The Advisory Council has chosen to raise funds for this program throughout the current fiscal year.

For a donation of any size to this Virtual Artmaking experience, participants will receive a Porch Light Wellness Kit, a unique coloring book-style tool that the program’s team has used with constituents throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s the perfect accompaniment to Brad’s drawing instruction, and an excellent addition to your home’s activity collection.

We are also proud to partner with Triple Bottom Brewing on this event. For all in-person purchases (at 915 Spring Garden Street in Philadelphia) by registrants in advance of the event, Triple Bottom will donate 10% of the proceeds back to Mural Arts!

If you have any questions please reach out to Individual Giving Manager Joe Ehrman-Dupre at joe.ehrman-dupre@muralarts.org. We look forward to seeing you there!

Register by Friday, April 23 to receive your Wellness Kit in the mail!
