Unk P / Paul Gripper Community Workshop

Attention North Philly residents! In preparation for a mural to be unveiled this Summer 2023, join us April 14th, from 6-8PM, at Vox Populi’s Black Box for a night celebrating the life and legacy of Paul Gripper, III aka Unk P! Expect an exclusive screening of “Long Live Unk P” , an experimental documentary short that revisits key places, players, and proverbs from Coach Paul Gripper’s decades as a leader in Philly hoops. Through a visual collage of archival footage from basketball games and his social media, Paul shares life lessons, a legacy, and an appreciation for family and community.

This screening will be followed by workshops with Michelle Davis of Where Faith Meets Mental Health, and muralist Makeba Rainey.

Participants are encouraged to bring keepsakes that remind them about Unk P, as they will be photographed and  may be incorporated into the mural design. Light refreshments will be served. Seating is limited.
