Mural Arts Philadelphia’s citywide Monument Lab continues with a Saturday Spotlight event at Vernon Park, with music and food from 1–4 p.m. This event will feature Monument Lab artists Jamel Shabazz and Karyn Olivier, whose projects Love Is the Message and The Battle Is Joined both explore representation and reflection.

This event is held in conjunction with the Aces Museum’s Veterans Day Celebration, which will be in the park from 1–8 p.m. Shabazz will take a group portrait in the park at 3:30 p.m.

Veterans are invited to attend in uniform, and both veterans and their families are invited to bring a photo or other memento of service to include in the group portrait. Participants can pick up a copy of the portrait photo at Aces Museum in the following weeks on Tuesdays during open hours from noon–4 p.m.
