PUMA x Meek Mill Community Paint Day

As part of the launch of PUMA Hoops, we are celebrating all aspects of the sport of basketball, including COMMUNITY.  PUMA and Meek Mill have paired up to refurbish and transform a basketball court in Meek’s neighborhood of Strawberry Mansion at East Fairmount Park.

In collaboration with Meek Mill we have partnered with the Philadelphia Parks & Recreation Department, the Strawberry Mansion Community Development Corporation, local street artist GlossBlack, and Mural Arts Philadelphia to create a more performable and more beautiful space for all to use.  Since beginning this project in October 2018, we have reconstructed the courts, repaired hoops, installed picnic tables and benches, and are will build in water fountains nearby.

Together we have created a unique piece of court artwork that represents the Strawberry Mansion community, Meek Mill’s deep-rooted relationship with the area, and the JOY of the sport of basketball.  The mosaic court design by Philadelphia artist Gloss Black will be executed by Adam Crawford in collaboration with members of the Mural Arts’ Guild program and community volunteers from Strawberry Mansion.

PUMA and Mural Arts Philadelphia welcome the Strawberry Mansion community to join us for Community Paint Day on Saturday, July 27^th from 10AM – 12PM to help us kick off the beautification of our new court!  Rain date is Sunday, July 28th from 10AM – 12PM. Water & painting equipment will be provided. Please wear clothing that you don’t mind ruining as the paint won’t come off if it gets on your clothes!
