Mural Dedication: Families Belong Together

Come out to help dedicate this new mural, and show support for local immigrant communities! In partnership with the Providence Center, Chilean muralist Artes Ekeko (Ian Pierce) has designed a new mural responding to recent restrictions in national immigration policies. This project has focused on Philadelphia’s identity as a sanctuary city, the massive role of immigrants in Philadelphia’s economy and culture, and the immediate and lasting impact of harsh immigration laws—in particular, the impact in Fairhill, a neighborhood which is home to a predominantly Hispanic and Latinx population. Philadelphia-based artist Cesar Viveros, who has worked in Fairhill before, assisted on this project along with local Guild alumni.
