Mural Arts Fest takes over Love Park this Halloween!

On Saturday, October 31, from 12–5 PM, Mural Arts Philadelphia brings the city together for an afternoon packed with art, music, creativity, and Halloween fun. Come ready to make, move, play, and celebrate with live performances, interactive art experiences, local artists, community partners, and plenty of surprises along the way at our annual festival.

Decorate your own mask, create and trade affirmations with Afromation Avenue, get a custom airbrushed tote bag by Amiracle Arts, take a photo at PHOBYMO’s Halloween photo booth, paint your best pumpkin for a chance to win a $500 cash prize, and take on carnival games and other family-friendly activities.

Explore an artist vendor market, get your face painted, and experience live performances from local musicians including Ryan Gilfillan and Blackbuttafly, with sound by Club Advisory, and fire dancing by Ambra Renee and Friends.

Whether you’re showing up in costume, coming with friends and family, or just looking for something fun to do in the heart of the city, Mural Arts Fest is where art and Philly energy collide.

Event Agenda

12-3 pm — Art activities at LOVE Park

Get creative with a ton of interactive activities, including mask decorating, pumpkin painting, button making, and a Halloween photo booth by PHOBYMO. Decorate masks with Mural Arts’ Art Education team, and design and trade your own affirmation cards with Afromation Avenue. Plus, enter our pumpkin decorating contest for a chance to win $500 (ages 14+)!

12-5 pm — Vendor market at LOVE Park

Shop original paintings, risograph prints, printed apparel, wearable art, handmade candles, and so much more from local artists. See below for a full list of vendors and featured artists.

1-4 pm — Interactive live painting

Watch the creative process unfold as Philadelphia artists Ydaly Mer and Ibi Padrón Venegas paint canvases themed around Halloween! Mural Arts Month Featured Artist Kaldric Dow will also showcase original collage-style artwork.

2:30-4:30 pm — Live soul and funk music

Experience live performances by local artists including Philadelphia-based soul and R&B singer-songwriter Ryan Gilfillan and soul and funk singer-songwriter Blackbuttafly with Steve Mckie. Club Advisory, featuring DJs Krispy and Tunji Ige, will provide sound throughout the event.

4:30 — Pumpkin painting contest winner announced

We’ll announce the winner of the pumpkin painting contest, with a cash prize of $500!

Pumpkin painting contest

Turn a pumpkin into a work of art for a chance to win $500! The contest is open to participants ages 14 and up, with on-site registration. Pick a pumpkin, get creative, and show us your Halloween masterpiece. Winner announced at 4:30 pm.

14 and under: Kids can pick and paint mini pumpkins from our free pumpkin patch!

Test your skills, challenge friends, and enjoy pumpkin picking and decorating at our free, kid-friendly pumpkin patch.

Whether you’re serving spooky, silly, or stylish, strike a pose and capture the Halloween spirit at Mural Arts Fest with Philadelphia-based photographer Mo Smith, aka Phobymo!
Airbrushed tote bag giveaway by Amiracle Arts | 12:30-4:30 pm
Take home a one-of-a-kind piece of art! Amir Campbell (Amiracle Arts) brings creativity and self-expression to the festival through a special airbrushed tote bag giveaway.
Affirmation card make-and-trade with Afromation Avenue | 12-5 pm
Design your own affirmation cards with encouraging words, personal mantras, and messages of hope. Once complete, patrons can leave their cards behind for someone else to discover and take home, creating a shared exchange of positivity!
Button making with Tacony LAB Community Arts Center
Tacony LAB’s fiber artists will guide guests of all ages in making a custom button in this free, hands-on activity. Turn your ideas into wearable art to take home!
Mask decorating with Mural Arts’ Art Education program | 12-3 pm
Unleash your creativity with Mural Arts Philadelphia’s Art Education team! Festival-goers of all ages are invited to design their own one-of-a-kind masks through hands-on decorating and collage.

Performers

Blackbuttafly with Steve Mckie | 2:30-3 pm

Kayla Childs, professionally known as BlackButtaFly, is a Philadelphia-based pianist, singer-songwriter, producer, and bandleader whose music draws on soul, jazz, funk, gospel, and R&B. Raised in New Brunswick, New Jersey, she began playing piano as a child, with an early musical foundation shaped by church and the Hammond B-3 organ. Her career spans the improvisational music community of Omar’s Hat, collaborations with Ivy Sole and Ryan Gilfillian, and touring work with keiyaA and Son Little. As BlackButtaFly, she brings that experience into original songs about love, life, and self-discovery. Her debut EP, Fly Free, released in November 2024, pairs expressive keys and vocals with a full-band soul and funk sound.

Ryan Gilfillian & Friends | 3:30-4 pm

Ryan Gilfillian is a Philadelphia-based soul and R&B singer-songwriter whose warm vocals and candid songwriting explore love, heartbreak, and self-discovery. Raised in a musical family in the Philadelphia suburbs, he draws from classic soul and contemporary R&B, with influences including Stevie Wonder,Usher, Musiq Soulchild, and Jill Scott. After a life-changing car accident left him paralyzed, Ryan deepened his commitment to singing and songwriting. His work also brings visibility to the disability community. His debut EP, Evergreen (2022), introduced his original sound, including “Talk to Me” featuring his brother Devon Gilfillian. Evergreen Live Sessions followed in 2023, showcasing the songs in a live setting.

Ambra Renee and Friends | 12:30-4:30

Prepare for an unforgettable experience with Ambra Renee and Friends at Mural Arts Fest! Blending ambient fire spinning, character play, and audience interaction, this dynamic group of performers will bring an exciting mix of spectacle and immersive entertainment to the park. Festival-goers can enjoy mesmerizing fire performances, encounter expressive characters, and engage with performers who bring energy and theatrical flair to the Halloween festivities.

Club Advisory | Featured DJs: Krispy and Tunji Ige

Club Advisory is a Philadelphia-based creative collective and event production company specializing in nightlife, music, entertainment, and cultural experiences. Founded in 2023, Club Advisory operates at the intersection of music, fashion, hospitality, and contemporary culture, bringing together diverse audiences through carefully curated events, artist collaborations, and immersive experiences. From intimate, invitation-only gatherings to large-scale concerts, nightlife activations, and official artist after-parties, Club Advisory creates environments where music, community, and cultur3e intersect. With a growing presence in Philadelphia, New York, and Miami, the company works with artists, venues, and brands to produce culturally relevant experiences that extend beyond traditional nightlife. Live Painting and Featured Artists

Ydaly Mer

Ydaly Mer is a multidisciplinary artist working primarily with acrylic and mixed media. Mer's work navigates themes of identity, resilience, and human complexity, using abstract and figurative elements to create emotionally charged visual narratives. Mer creates compositions that balance vulnerability and strength, often drawing from personal memory, social observation, and inner reflection. The artist's practice is rooted in independence and intuitive expression, allowing each piece to function as both a visual statement and an emotional record.

Ibi Padrón Venegas

Ibi Padrón Venegas is an emerging Latino artist with a focus on murals, 2D artworks and metal sculpture. Believing art should be habitually integrated in our communities and cultural infrastructures, their practice thrives in public artwork and collaborative projects. At their core, Ibi is an investigator who is always asking why and how, eager to reach a deeper fascination. Inspired from a very young age by natural sciences, the oddities of our universe, and their own vivid dreams, their art is often a manifestation of their curiosity and awe of the bizarre. For this reason, the subjects of their work often feel otherworldly, creature-like and at times, of magical nature. The ultimate intention of their work is to preserve our sense of magic, wonder and whimsy.

Kaldric Row

A recipient of the 2026 Philadelphia Fellowship for Black Artists, Kaldric Dow honed his skills emphasizing the portrayal of skin tones using diverse materials. Dow’s work centers on representing African American culture through rich artistic expression, employing a variety of mediums, including acrylic paint, fabrics, and patterned paper. His art delves into themes of cultural identity, striving to elevate African American imagery for exhibition in museums and galleries worldwide. Dow’s commitment to his heritage shines through in every piece, inviting viewers to explore and appreciate its depth.
