6 films, 6 distinct communities, countless Philadelphia stories. Join Mural Arts Philadelphia’s Porch Light program for a special screening of Making Home Movies, a collaborative film project created with newly-arrived immigrant and refugee communities in Philadelphia. Making Home Movies partners adult and youth English language learners with filmmakers and poets to explore the language and imagery of home and to create community together.
Doors open at 3:00pm, the screening will begin at 3:30pm. A reception with light refreshments will follow the screening.
This project has been funded by the City of Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBHIdS). The Porch Light program is a collaboration between Mural Arts Philadelphia and DBHIdS. Partners include the African Cultural Alliance of North America Inc, The Exchange at Oxford Circle, Horace Howard Furness High School, PhillyCAM, Northeast High School, and Southeast by Southeast.
