Join us at The Fire on May 25th from 2-4 pm to honor the legacy of Philadelphia’s only woman-owned music venue and celebrate the rich artistic history of the Northern Liberties neighborhood. The focal point of Alloyius McIlwaine’s mural is the artist John Legend, who performed at The Fire early in his career. More broadly, the mural speaks to the power of music – from R&B to opera – to connect people and communities. Distributed throughout the image are the artist’s signature “kudoglyphs,” symbols that “present ideas of positivity and push forth a message to reach for your dreams.” This two-hour event will feature music, food, and drinks, followed by an evening of live music, including a John Legend tribute show.
