Hear presentations from local activists and community leaders and connect with others who care about this issue.

Join Trash Academy at Mural Arts for guest speakers, discussion, gameplay, and readings related to the problem of trash every Thursday through April 11. We will also engage in art making: stamping, sewing, and printing reusable bags to prepare for upcoming community events. All hands welcome!

Trash Academy is a “collaboratory” between residents, artists, environmental activists, and youth from across the city of Philadelphia. In addition to connecting communities to citywide resources, the project aims to inspire action around trash issues by testing and sharing the best grassroots solutions that emerge. Trash Academy’s current focus is reducing the impact of plastics and promoting the use of reusable bags to help address Philadelphia’s widespread litter.
