Mural Arts Philadelphia, in partnership with curator Conrad Benner, announces First 100 Days, a new art project designed to engage the public around policy issues that could be addressed in the new presidential administration. Especially in the current political climate, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have a chance to really make their mark in these first few months. For the project, curator Conrad Benner and Mural Arts Philadelphia worked with ten diverse Philadelphia artists to create ten posters which promote various areas of action. The posters will be available for the public to share across social media as well as to hang in their home windows. In addition to the posters, the public can find a resource page with ways to advocate for these issues at muralarts.org.

On three Wednesdays in March, Mural Arts and Benner will host free virtual artist panels to discuss the project:

Wednesday, March 3

A discussion about racial economic equity, environmental justice, and closing immigrant camps. Featuring artists Jenny Scott, Marisa Velázquez-Rivas, Melita Tirado, and Krista Dedrick-Lai.

Special Guest: Jonathan Tamari, national politics and policy reporter for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

First 100 Days: Health and Housing

Wednesday, March 17

A discussion about distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine, universal healthcare, and housing for all. Featuring artists Natalie Hope McDonald, Derick Jones, Lisa Kelley, and Candy Alexandra González.

Special Guest: Jonathan Tamari, national politics and policy reporter for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

First 100 Days: Investing in the People

Wednesday, March 31

A discussion about cancelling student debt, raising the minimum wage, reallocating funding in the police budget, and $2,000 survival checks. Featuring artists Donte Neal, Jonai Gibson-Selix, Marian Bailey, and Kah Yangni.

Special Guest: Jonathan Tamari, national politics and policy reporter for the Philadelphia Inquirer.
