On August 14, the Free Library’s Skyline Terrace comes to life with music and creative exchange. Local artist Hope Hummingbird and Chicago-based mosaicist Jim Bachor will speak for Mural Arts’ newest speaker series: Artists in Conversation. This collaboration with the Parkway Central Library’s Art Department will provide unique insight into each artist’s work, influences, and practices.
Moderated and co-curated by Philadelphia’s Ginger Rudolph, these conversations will introduce the artists (and audiences!) to each other’s art and ideas. You’ll be able to peruse items from the Library’s vast art collection that inspire our speakers and curators, and check out the Library’s website for suggested reading lists.
Stay for the after-party with DJ Particle Ray, hosted by Starfire, our Curator of Energy and Creative Expression, and sponsored by Collective Arts Brewing. Additional sponsorship provided by Sonesta Hotels and City of Philadelphia.
Join us for the third conversation on September 11.
*Portuguese artist Add Fuel was originally scheduled to speak at this event, but due to a family emergency will not be able to attend. We’re excited to hear from Jim Bachor, who has taken on Chicago’s potholes by filling them with mosaics. It beats Philadelphia’s awareness cones!*
