Thank You to our Artists

by: Chad Eric Smith and Emilio Maldonado

Mural Arts Philadelphia acknowledges that artists are an essential element to civic life. They are the catalysts of truth, channelers of insight, and curators of transformative experiences. They mold the intangible, imbuing our existence with purpose, motivation, and the audacity to soar beyond the ordinary.

With the advent of Artist Appreciation Month this July, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the artists associated with us and artists worldwide. Your innovative minds challenge societal norms and ignite conversations that honor our diversity while celebrating our shared essence of humanity.

We express our gratitude to all the Artists, Educators, Program Coordinators, and Project Managers collaborating with Mural Arts. Your unwavering commitment and passionate efforts are the sparks that incite change. Your vision allows us to accurately mirror the communities we are honored to serve.

Mural Arts’ commitment to artists is steadfast and we work every day to open new avenues for opportunities. Their bold visions and infinite creativity are the lifeblood of our initiatives. Through the creation and showcasing of numerous murals and programs annually, we are proud to employ hundreds of artists.

We are always ready tof  encourage the evolution of artists in diverse ways. Led by Emilio Maldonado, our Artist Relations Office champions the cause of artists by providing avenues for learning, professional development, and advocacy for their concerns and interests.

Across Mural Arts, several core programs serve as conduits for nurturing future artists. This includes our Arts Education program, which collaborates with various Philadelphia schools to cultivate the emerging generation of artists, giving voice to young visionaries. The Restorative Justice’s Guild program pairs art education with personal and professional development and direct assistance on mural projects, fostering robust, positive alliances between returning citizens and communities impacted by justice.

Now entering its fourth year, our Philadelphia Fellowship for Black Artists continues to support, promote, and amplify the vital contributions of Black artists in all mediums residing within Philadelphia. This seven-month initiative allows our Fellows to engage with a public art curriculum that includes workshops on project planning, community engagement, mural design, and installation, fostering collaboration with community members and fellow artists.

Mural Arts is committed to standing by our indispensable artists throughout our journey. Artists reign supreme; thank you for being extraordinary!
