Open Source Events

by: Carly Rapaport-Stein

October has lots of wonderful things to look forward to. Crisp air. Pretty leaves. Pumpkins and cozy sweaters. And this October, we’re adding something else wonderful: Open Source events.

You’ve been reading about the art and the artists of Open Source for the past few months, following their stories as they explore and create. But in addition to seeing the profound, compelling art of Open Source, there’s another way to experience October: attend one of the 40-plus events surrounding Open Source.

Our big opening party at Bok on October 2 kicks off the month long extravaganza, followed by a full weekend of tours, creative art making, lectures, and yes, another party! I’ll be blogging throughout the month, giving you updates about interesting events to come in the week ahead, so you can check back on the blog for weekly highlights or look here for more information about all Open Source happenings.

Parties, lectures, panels, creative workshops, tours – there is something fun, unusual, educational, or fascinating going on almost every day throughout October. Attending these events means connecting with the art, connecting with other people, and connecting with the ideas propelling Philadelphia forward. Attending an event means gaining a deeper understanding of the work going on in Philadelphia, and gaining a deeper understanding of the ways art and innovation are influencing citywide conversations about social issues. And attending at least three events means getting some Mural Arts swag at the end of the month – don’t forget to pick up your Rewards Card at your first event, and remember to stamp it every time you join us.

Open Source has so many ways to engage your brain, your curiosity, and your sense of fun – you’re going to love being in such a creative Philadelphia this October!
