Created, Together. Videos Now Available!

In October 2023, the Mural Arts Institute organized Created, Together. in Philadelphia. This national convening brought together artists from across the United States and Puerto Rico, working with communities on public art projects. The themes that inspired Created, Together. were developed over a series of discussions with change-makers throughout the country about the questions important to center in their projects as socially-engaged public art practitioners. Six themes were established, becoming the guiding questions informing many elements of the convening, including artist talks, field trips, workshops, a film screening, and facilitated conversations exploring these themes.

Recognizing that the concepts being explored in the convening were not finite discussions, a variety of documentation approaches were initiated to share these ideas so others could continue the dialogue. Multiple short videos were completed by a team from Big Picture Alliance, an organization dedicated to empowering youth through filmmaking and supporting alum apprentices in leading documentary projects. Eight videos were created in total: one video designed to overview the entire convening, one video documenting a poem written by attendees during a workshop, and six videos presenting interviews from a diverse group of artists in response to each of the guiding questions.
