About the Project 

Elastic Geography emerged out of a partnership with Yards Brewing and Alliance HSP, who were looking for creative ways to highlight the ever-evolving landscape of the Spring Garden neighborhood through art making. Philadelphia-based Arden Bendler Browning composed these paintings using colors derived from Yards’ current product labels and selected landmarks around the immediate neighborhood. The resulting marks are gestural and abstract, echoing the energy and ongoing fluctuation and transition within the community where Yards Brewery is located. The circular portals offer the possibility of imagined worlds within that space.

Arden’s colorful abstract work perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the neighborhood and hope for the future, reflecting the energy of the community while placing the Yards building as a standout within the cityscape.
