josh graupera

josh graupera (they/them) is an artist living in Philadelphia, PA. Their practice explores the relationship between visual art and community organizing, using drawing, screen printing, zine-making, and facilitation practices. They enjoy working with people to explore worldbuilding techniques to create new systems and structures in imaginary worlds as well as our own.

josh is the co-initiator of seed project, a community arts project in Lancaster, PA, a volunteer organizer with Stadium Stompers, and a founding member of Bonfire Media Collective.

In 2019, josh began working with the Youth Art & Self-empowerment Project (YASP) as an art workshop facilitator at Riverside Correctional Facility (RCF) on State Road and later joined staff as the Creative Arts Coordinator in 2020. They currently lead and manage YASP’s workshops with youth in detention at MOD3 (State Road) and the Juvenile Justice Services Center (JJSC).

They have participated in residencies and programs at The Fabric Workshop and Museum, The African American Museum of Philadelphia, Second State Press, and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.
