Mural Arts Month kicks off next week, with the (October 6) dedication of one of our most spectacular projects of the year. Artist Meg Saligman (Common Threads,Philadelphia Muses) worked with Mural Arts to create The Evolving Face of Nursing an incredible new mural at Broad and Vine Streets.

The mural is impressive enough by day, but at night, it will be lit by a series of LED lights. Aside from illuminating the wall, the LED’s will actually obscure and reveal characters in the mural itself, creating a shifting, living series of images.

As we get ready to dedicate this new mural, we can also take a moment to remember the 2 other murals that once lived on the same wall. Since 1997, Broad and Vine has been the site of:

Bill Freeman’s 1997 mural, Tribute to Family.
and Sam Donovan’s 2001 mural, Tribute to Nursing.

For more information on the dedication, check out our Mural Arts Month dedication pages. For more on the mural itself, visit its project page. See you there.
